Dual Head Advantages:

As thermal printing and erasing requires totally different thermal energy (temperature), dedicated heat bar can provide and maintain stable energy level so that the print/erase quality can be optimized. Instead single heat bar design requires frequent temperature level switching throughout print/erase processes. The print/erase quality is generally lower than dual heat bar system. Due to the technological limitation of temperature switching, single heat bar system cannot supply enough and steady thermal output for good erasing performance. i.e. cannot erase clearly. It is because the thermal rewritable particles on card surface will gradually get firmer over time after each time the card is printed and erased. It is often noticeable when cards are normally used for a certain period. With use of dual heat bar system, it can always deliver the quality print/erase output as the erase bar is specifically designed for erasing purpose.bar system design requires frequent temperature switching for print/erase cycles. The life span of the single heat bar is much shorter than dual heat bar system. The cost of thermal/erase head (integrated function) is very significant and will be an overhead in terms of support and maintenance.
